Two years ago, I’ve decided that I’m going to focus on a certain “theme” or goal for each year as I figured that is the best approach if I were to accomplish all the things that I want. The way I see it is that after one year of doing things related to my goal, I’ve already made a habit out of them so I will then continue to do them the succeeding years, effortlessly. And the next year, I come up with a new goal and they eventually add up to the previous years’.
For this year, it was “giving more and giving back”. I think I' did quite well in terms of supporting a few organizations and projects:
CRIBS Foundation, Children’s Joy Foundation, Typhoon Sendong Survivors.
But more than these I would like to believe that this year, I was also more giving to family and friends. Not only of material things but more importantly of time, encouragement and support. This is a little more difficult to measure and I can only hope that during the times we spent together, they felt more loved and appreciated.
----------------
On a lighter note, I think this was also the year that I travelled the most: Jan – Davao; Feb – Boracay; Mar – Taal Volcano, Vietnam; Apr – Mt. Pinatubo; Jun – Ilocos; Nov – Hong Kong; Dec – Bicol. Plus of course a few other adventures and new things learned in between.
Thank you, 2011. You’ll be one of those years that I will always look back to with happiness. :)

sometimes, you're just not yet ready. sometimes, you just never will be.

Fox: “Would you change your religious beliefs to marry the person you love? Why or why not? “
Supsup: ”If I had to change my religious beliefs, I will not marry the person that I love. Because the first person that I love is GOD who created me... And if that person loves me, he should love my God too.”
------------------
Shortly after reading this (yes, because I wasn’t able to catch it on tv) I tweeted “So, if you love the other person.. shouldn't you also love his/her God too?”
Other thoughts that entered my mind were:
* Isn’t that selfish? (that = to require only the other party to do so)
* Is it then a matter of who loves more? (he/she who loves more will be the one to change to prove
his/her eternal love)
* Who said either should change his/her belief?
I don’t think one can completely answer this question in 30 seconds regardless if the person is in the Miss Universe pageant or if someone just randomly asks. One should also have a certain level of self-awareness and spiritual introspection to even have a ‘good enough’ attempt.
This was a topic in a couple of office conversations today. Someone said she is open to it, another said it depends on what the other person’s religion is — she wanted to ‘learn’ about it first and see if it “fits” her. I said, I wouldn’t.
And since it’s already 3am.. I will post my reasons next time. :)
sometimes, things just don't feel right and the best thing to do is to just let them be.
or sleep on it -- specially if it's already past 3am.
i missed blogging. :)
testing if this mobile blogging app works. :)

Not to mention that you are smart, and funny, and not at all hard on the eyes. And I would be lying to say that it’s never crossed my mind… but I don’t feel it… it’s - it’s not real. It’s just a good story.

Because 2011 is my year of giving more and giving back, I will only be accepting cash gifts on my birthday (Mar 19). I will match the total amount I'll receive and donate them to Project Malasakit.
If you're thinking of buying me a gift (no matter how small) or giving me a party (oo na, assuming ako! haha), please don't. Instead, deposit the money you are to spend to the below account.
BDO Savings Account

Instead of texting or calling to greet me, send the same amount you'll spend to my GCash account.
See instructions here:

Or you can also give it to me personally. Don't worry, I will prepare a bday box where you can drop your donations. ;)
I already have everything I need, if not more. Sila naman. :)

last night was one of the very few instances when i wished i wasn’t alone.
the winds of ondoy were scarier but i had my then roommate with me at that time. for some reason, i can’t sleep when i hear the sound of the strong winds. and i’m scared that the windows would break and shards of glasses would hit my face.
paranoid.
I think Mr. & Mrs. B.'s is the most beautiful wedding I’ve ever been to — simple yet very personal and detailed. I am fortunate to have been part of it.
It felt like watching a movie that is so touching and inspiring that one can’t help but tell the story to other people. I think I have told their story to everyone I have seen in the next 24 hours, including a person whom I’ve just met. I’m not usually very good at telling stories specially if it entails mushy stuff but I must have done a good job that a total stranger (at least at that time) enjoyed the story so much that she made me promise to share the couple’s love story video to her if it gets uploaded.
Their’s is a must-see movie. A classic. Even the soundtrack is great! [ ♫ To Make You Feel My Love ♫]
But what’s greater is that it is no movie at all. It is real — no scripts, no sets. And yet if it were, this is surely one movie which we never want to hear the director say, “Cut!”
Dear My, Ma and Nang,
Just like the typical daughter or son, I rarely (if ever) tell you that I love you. But I do hope that you know.
And in this letter, I would like to let you know why I know that I do.
I know that I love you because I would always think of you whenever something good would happen to me. Whenever I am in a beautiful place, I’d wish you were there too or would get the chance to be there, as well. Whenever I eat something delicious, I’d wish you could taste it too.
Whenever people appreciate me for doing something good or for simply being there for them, I’d wish you can hear it too. Whenever I stand up for my values in even the smallest ways, I’d wish you learn about it. So that you’ll know that in those moments, I was successful in being the person that you have raised are raising me to be.
I want you to know that I will try my best to do at least half as good as what the three of you have done for me and my brothers (and even cousins). I still find myself in awe thinking about the selfless acts you’ve done you’ve been doing for us. You may be misunderstood at times, but please know that despite those disagreements and above all those “in between’s”, you are loved.
Happy Mothers’ Day! :)
As I’ve set, this year would be all about fitness and well-being. After 4 months, I can say that I am doing a good job. I haven’t been able to go to the gym often but I am happy to be able to go for ~4km run/walk on a regular basis.
I’ve also been able to play badminton quite often. And I’ve started taking table tennis lessons last week. Yey!
I just need to do a better job and having breakfast everyday. I can do this! :)
