"The grass is not, in fact, always greener on the other side of the fence. Fences have nothing to do with it. The grass is greenest where it is watered. When crossing over fences, carry water with you and tend the grass wherever you may be."
Robert Fulghum
It Was on Fire When I Lay Down on It
----------------------
This is one my favorite articles in the book. It started when he saw several groups of people on the road holding signs and hitching for a ride.
"Anywhere but here"
"Somewhere else and back"
He stopped when he saw the second, intrigued by the sign and liking it at the same time. A group of people joined him in his truck. He asked about the sign and they said they liked it here because it is home. They just wanted to go some place else now. "Have you ever felt that way?", they asked. "Once every week," he replied.
